Associação de Melhoramentos e Recreativo do Talude

The “Associação de Melhoramentos e Recreativo do Talude” (AMRT) is located in the Talude neighbourhood. It consists of 130 houses households, located on one side of the Military Road in an extension of 1.5 kilometers with a population of about 600 people, of which over 90% are Cape Verdeans and their descendants, and more than 50% of this population are young people of school age.
This neighbourhood is illegal, and its construction was started at the beginning of the 80’s, and it took until 1993, the date on which the authorities began to monitor continuously the neighbourhood in order to prevent the growth of such constructions. To solve problems related to water supply to the population, the AMRT was founded in 1993.
In 1999 the Association was entered in the National Register of Youth Associations (RNAJ).
In 2002 the Association was registered as a Private Institution of Social Solidarity, as an institution of public utility.
In 2003 it was recognized by the High Commissioner for Immigration and Intercultural Dialogue (Acid).
The AMRT has 4 members in the Directorate under 30 years old, and the direction is composed of five elements, with 11 employees less than 30 years old, in a total of 20, which currently has a total of 25 people working daily.
The main objectives of the association are: to support children and youth; family support; support for social integration and community; protection of specific rights and interests of immigrants and their descendants living in Portugal; education and training of its members.
The objectives for solving the housing problems of people are necessary improvements to the Military Neighbourhood of Talude, monitoring the process of resettlement of the population, recreation and leisure time occupation of their members in the parish of Unhos, municipality of Loures.
Our target population are young people of school age that left school early, and their families, in order to facilitate and give greater productivity for our work.
